Well, this guy has his trolling motor on the front. I might set it up like this .... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=my0bKt2LP74

But I am really wanting to spider rig.

Trolling motor mounted just like in video if using hand control.
Spider rig with 10 ft or longer poles no they won't be under boat. You would be sitting just like he is in that video.

Look around and don't get in a hurry to buy now. The start of the hunting season many people will sell their boats and buy hunting stuff. Then it is after fishing season for most and boats are sold a lots cheaper. This is the boat that I bought a few years ago and I didn't pay much more than what you are talking about paying for one. Now the extras I bought later like fish sonars and some of the other things like rod holders I made myself. This boat is a 1991 model but it doesn't leak a drop and the old 25 hp Johnson motor has never let me down. I looked around and asked everyone I could before I decided and I am very happy with it for crappie fishing.

WOW! Beautiful boat, Sir!! That's exactly what I grew up on with my grandfather before he passed away, and my uncle just let it sit up and rot away. I'm a a little nervous about a jon boat, but it's all I think I can pull with my Chevy Impala. they tell me 1,000 pounds towing max capacity so I figured jon boat. I'd love to have something like this. Maybe you could shoot me a pm at a later date (no rush at all Sir) about the sonar you got and help on the rod holder idea? Have a great day! And thanks for the pic. I love seeing a pretty boat! I'm off to my second job now, so I'll be back on a little later. Did you buy this boat off here?

I have a jon boat at my house that is rigged awesome for comfortable fishing. Not for spider rigging tho. More for jigging and casting. I will post piks tomorrow.

Also if your wanting to start trolling from a jon boat watch this video on youtube.

    "Side Pulling crappie on Pickwick"

This wouold be a very cool safe/stable way to potentially rig up a boat for trolling. Man could spider rig (push) or pull jigs or crankbaits. Would give 2 anglers plenty of room and could rig up very cheap rod holders on the side of the boat and would not have to have ANYTHING fancy.

The boat in the video is made for such.....but I think a basic jon boat could be arranged in the same fashion.

Here is a rig like I am talking about. It looks a little rough but would be a good fixer up for a starting out boat. Just remember to ask to see the rig out on the water so you can see that it will run and will not sink. If it is up to par they will. I found this one on craigs list but it is about 2 1/2 hours from you in Meridian,MS. I am sure where you live in Alabama they are or will be several nice boats about like it on Craigs lists their. Just to show you they are out there but you have to look for them.

and here is one in tuscaloosa Al. that looks nice and not to far from you.

I actually LOVE the Bass Tracker Pro 16. That's what I grew up in. However .... I just googled the weight capacity. It says 1496 lbs. My car's towing capacity (maybe understated?) reads 1,000 lbs. Kinda crushed that dream. That's why I was going with a Jon Boat, because of the weight limit thing.
