I bought six jars of nibbles about 10 years ago. Have probably tried them 40-50 times. Have never caught a crappie with them.
What kickingback said...
since this is my third year to call myself a crappie fisherman, take my response with a grain of salt. I tried fishing with minnows and jigs. I catch more fish with just a minnow that plain jig. I catch as many fish with a jig tipped with crappie nibble as with minnows. I normally fish with jigs and crappie nibbles now. I will use minnows if I take a friend out who prefers minnows or when night fishing.

My curiosity was killing me so I got me some crappie nibbles and went down to my pond this afternoon to try them out. Put one on a bare # 6 long shank hook under a cork and threw it out. Caught a channel cat after a minute or two. Then I threw out some fish food pellets and the bream started feeding on top but they were not interested in the nibble under the cork about a foot. Put a F.F pellet under the cork and they didn't want that either, just the food floating on top. The catfish wanted it so it must have some attractant qualities.

Yea kickingback has it right it will make them hold on a little longer. That's about all there good for. If your missing fish use them. As far a minnows I have not used them in years. A jig will out fish minnows 10 to 1.

I am working on getting my confidence up enough to jig fish exclusively. I believe in keeping it simple.

You have to learn to find fish first and minnows will help you out there. Once you can find them slowly start learning to use the jig. I've had some good days using minnows but not like with jigs. I've never had a 100+ day with minnows did it a lot with jigs.

When I get back out there after this weather if I catch one on an a minnow I think I'll switch to a jig and see what happens. I have already located some spots where I catch fish and have caught a few on jigs fished in tandem with minnows, meaning a different bait a little ways apart on the same line.
