I learned this from an old man that used to sit on the dock at Cain run creek all the time ( been 25 years ago I have forgot his name ) I use the smallest Popeye jig sometimes tipped with wax worm. This works fantastic on Herrington sometimes but I think it seems to work best in winter for me the slower the better I have picked up some nice ones off the docks using this method also. I once went to KY lake and hired a guide in late FEB we crappie fished all over the lake and couldn't get a single bite. It was the first time I had ever witnessed spider rigging. Anyway I asked him if there was any deep water on the lake and he took me up into a old rock quarry and I found a tree laid down in about 35 feet of water and broke out a tiny Popeye jig and Begin showing him the technique. It was not long before we had a limit and I mean some good ones. He only charged me for gas that day and I left him some Popeye jigs. If you can figure out how to fish Herrington you can fish anywere lol.

I like to drift deep water with lines at different depths until I hit fish and then anchor and see if it warrants some time in this spot. If not start the drift again. Have done well on the lakes I fish this way.
Keep them poles bent and the boat right side up! LOL
