    Default Good spinning reels?

Well I scrolled way down on the front page and found the bass section, now my oldest favorite Quantium $80 reel is failing, the bail spring is shot, I tryed streching it but no good, and thought if I ordered one I minus well buy a new reel. So I am asking what spinning reels You guys like for Bass? I have a few Abu Garcias that I like and bought a Lews speed freak but its small for casting crappie jigs, might consider a bigger Lews dont know.

The two spinning rods I use most for bass have a Gander Mountain brand reel which isn't bad. My favorite is my new Shimano Symetre reel, smooth as silk. I'm defiantly sold on Shimano now.

My other bass rod is an old Bass Pro mega cast brand but it doesn't get used as much anymore.

Here is one that I think is as good as many of the more expensive reels. I have 2 and they are as good as my Shimano and Phuleger reels. And I like the large spool for bass fishing. Lot less problem with kinky line and seems to cast farther.

thanjks for the help guys, Riverslabber, the Symetre may be a great reel, but its only rated for 100ft of 4#mono and a bit slow for me at 21" per turn, sounds like itr may be a good crappie reel though. Cray, I live 20 mins from Bps and yeah its dangerous for my wallet, I was looking at the qualifier reel, like the wide spool design and price, they are on sale now for -$20 too. Ive favored Abu's in the past but read more and more about Shimanos. Well my wife asked what to get me for Fathers day so if the kids want to shell out some $ on me I will ask for the qualifier, but if I go to Bps, I bet I will drop $100 on a Shimano, lol. I didnt mention this reel willl be on my 6ft st.croix triumph med pole that lives behind the seat of my pick up, it is my every day, after work, gotta hour to fish set up and I love the pole and did love the old reel.

That's the 500 size spool, which is way too small, IMO. I'd go with the 2500 size spool.

Right, my bass rod has the 2500 size spool which is good for 140 yards of 8lb mono (I think I've got 200 yards of 8lb fluro on it since the diameter is a little smaller), and it brings in 35" per turn. I have it on a Fenwick HMG 6'9" medium light power rod for finesse. Id go either that or the 4000 size which will hold 200 yards of 10 lb mono at 36" per turn.

The 500 size would make a good crappie reel though. I might go this route on my next crappie rod instead of a Pflueger.

Well I put on what I thought was a good reel after work today and headed to the lake, then found out the crank was froze up. I jumped in my truck and drove 1/2hr to Bps, looked at the Bps Pro qualifier and also the Shimanos, I liked the Sedona 2000 and after the guy at the counted shook his head no when I mentioned the Bps reel I asked more about the Shimanos, he said the new ones are very good and what keeps people from buying them vs others is there are only 4 bearings, 3 ball bearing and 1 roller, I spooled on 20# Power pro slick too. He also told me the Pleuger president is there nu.1 seller, and I have one, and it is a rough, noisy reeling machine even though it has 10 bearings, he mentioned once they get wet they have issues and my poles get wet, so Shimano it is and I have broken it in tonight with a 2# Lmb. Thanks for the suggestions guys

The Pro Qualifier spinning reels must have a different reputation than the baitcasting ones. A bunch of guys I know love the Pro Qualifier baitcasters.

Glad you found something that worked for you.
