I would suspect the starter relay located in the fuse box.
Was at my in-laws today and my father in law was starting to work on his 2011 tundra. The battery had a little corrosion on the terminal( not much just some coming out of top post clamp). So he got it cleaned up and put the positive cable on first and as soon as he touch the ground cable to the battery, VROOM! Started on its own. The keys were in his pocket, and as soon as he got in it and hit the brakes it shut off. Thinking it was a fluke he tried it again with the same outcome... anyone know what causes this?

Don't know much about it but my question would be, does it have remote start? If it does it might have something to do with having key in his pocket and powering up computer when he connected ground cable. In doing so it might be sending a signal to start. That's only reason I can think of that it would start and then die when brakes are applied without key in ignition.

It starts and kills fine with the key every time, which makes me think the relay is fine. It does have a factory remote start but ive never heard of it doing this before. I'll suggest investigating that lead also

I'm a mechanic and have had that happen to me on a Tundra. It has to do with the remote start module. I contacted Toyota about it and they said it was an anomaly in the module and it was nothing to worry about. LOL
I told them it damn sure worried me after it did it several times.
I believe it won't do it with the key in the ignition because it see the theft deterrent chip.

There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.
