Default Sinking structure on Truman Lake

What are the laws regarding sinking structure on Truman Lake? Some say it is legal for only certain materials, while others say it is illegal all together.

If it is legal, then what type of materials can you sink, i.e. pvc, wood, metal, bamboo, etc...?

There have been several discussions on this. Best to check with the Kansas City District Army Corps of Engineers.

Here is a link to a previous thread.

sometimes rules and regs get in the way of common sense, there is lots of structure put in by the conservation commission and the public, talking to the corps is a lot like talking to your shadow on a cloudy day................ just do it. keeferfish will back you in court.

If you throw it off a bridge, make sure you tie a strong knot.

Call the corps office at the dam, they have a sheet outlining what is ok and what is not. There is no permit required.

FYI...I just contacted the Corps of Engineers and they are emailing me a copy of their "guidelines." As soon as I receive it I will post it, as I know I am not the only one that has been curious as to what exactly the law states....and if I am the only one interested, at least I will know where to find the information if I ever have a question.
