The tape is provided free of charge as a convenience to anglers. It is not intended as a “true” measure and the quality control on the product is not what you would expect from a solid tape purchased for a price. As with any plastic sticker it is subject to distortion. It is best to use a solid measure that is much less likely to shrink or expand. Sorry for any inconvenience guys.
I prefer the solid measuring containers that hold the fish and have clear deliniation. I've seen too many fish dropped while trying to measure on a tape on the gunwale of a boat.
