I like my shorts in the summer. But Beagle I have started wearing long sleeves in the summer. With the new heat gear shirts and even the new tournament shirts from Hooked Fishing they keep the air flowing through them and keeps the sun off your arms. Dad always wore cheap thin western style long sleeve shirts while in the hay field. I always thought he was crazy. But after a little sweat any breeze at all would keep you cooler.

Beagle, truth be told. long pants and shirts are probably a good idea to avoid skin cancer. Couple of my friends have had lesions cut off their face and arms. Just grew up in the hot humid south and always wore shorts and the majority of the guys here do, so even though it probably ain't a good idea I still do. Hope everything clears up for you in time for prime crappie time.
By the way, I tried copying the horse emicom and I can't get it animated, so I will have to do some digging.

I apologize for taking so long in responding to this question. I wanted to speak with some of the other entities and agencies involved with enforcing weapons and vehicles (your boat in this case). What I have gathered (based off discussion not quoting the law as written) is that boats are commonly considered vehicles, similar to your car. Just as boating under the influence is a violation like driving under the influence. With that said consider the legal methods for storing a firearm in your car and apply that to your boat. It would be very difficult to address every situation and to determine its legality on this forum. I would urge you to contact your local Conservation Agent or Highway Patrol Water Patrol Division officer (Water Patrol recently merged with MSHP) with specific questions.

Dan, I appreciate you taking the time to find an answer for us! I like to know I am within the law, and I also like having the peace of mind of having a little protection at all times. maybe I am just paranoid, but my wife is a 911 dispatcher so I get to hear about all the crazy stuff that happens. even in my quiet little town. I guess I don't need to tell anyone this, but there is NO WHERE SAFE ANYMORE!!! especially when your alone in the back woods. thanks again and be safe out there, Agent Dan!

Thanks Dan for the reply and effort put into getting the information. We are so glad to have you all on here to help with questions. Seems we have things we wonder about and if others are like me when I see an agent in the field I always forget ask. I am going to ask Andy Bullock our local agent to join on here. Another thing to add to the Conservation Agents post is to ALWAYS LET ALL L.E. know you have a weapon as soon as you are contacted. Nothing worse than starting out on the wrong foot when they find out 5 minutes into the contact that you have had a weapon the entire time. Granted people forget things but with the kind of people we deal with on a daily basis you would be surprised how the little things are interpreted in our minds. L.E. want to go home at the end of their shift not to the hospital or funeral home. The law states you can have a weapon visible or concealed in your vehicle in the St of Mo and a boat is considered a vehicle/vessel in MO. You will not have any problems from L.E. with this in the state as long as you let L.E. know. It is not a law to advise them but it will result in a much friendlier result in the contact if you do asap.
