    Default Hot and Dry 2023

Air temperature is 104F at El Dorado Reservoir currently...

El Dorado water level is 4.58 feet below conservation pool. The last time the lake was this low was August 2018.

Exposed shorelines are producing nice vegetation which will provide great nursery habitat for the 2024 year classes of sportfish with a timely refill.

Two boat ramps are closed (Boulder Bluff and Shady Creek Area 1 ramp) due to the low water.

    Be careful out there!

You've missed the rain by 6.5 hrs. About 400 miles. Here in Eastern Colorado most lakes went to Deadpool in 3 of last 4 years. This year (2023) all lakes are full to the brim and it keeps raining. At my house 30 miles east of Denver we've measured 22+" of rain this year. It's insane never seen so much rain Ive lived here since 1971.

    I hope KS. gets some.

My co-worker that covers SWKS had several lakes that were extremely low or completely dry that are now FULL after the late July rains...Crazy!! However, most of the lakes I look after remain very low.

Happy to hear that the water found ya' out there!!

Yeah lakes here locally are low and ponds going dry. People are chopping corn for silage.

As of today, the lake is over 5 feet below normal pool (5.03 feet). The last time it was this low was November 13, 2006. Other low water years were 2013 and 2018. The lake dropped to 4.84 feet low on April 21, 2013 and 4.69 feet low on August 13, 2018. Water levels dropped to nearly 6 feet low (5.96 ft) on March 17, 2007 so we have a ways to go to beat the early 2007 level. Be careful out there!

Lookin' a little different in 2024! Quick little snow storm this morning turned everything white. El Dorado remains 5.3 ft low but has gained over a foot in the last couple of weeks. Will certainly take any precipitation for lake recharge, even if it means SNOW!
