Douglas County State Lake has an excellent population of black crappie, in terms of numbers. Unfortunately, most are 8-9 inches. It would be nice to change the limits to a "must keep all crappie no matter what size". You could put a limit of 30 on it or keep the present limit of 50
It would be nice to have some larger crappie in this lake. I believe the smaller crappie are taking over the population. This is similar to what happened before the lake was drained for dam repair and maintenance
There's no length limits, no point in making someone keep a fish that is too small to do anything with. I've seen some of the biggest crappie of any of the local state lakes from Douglas, including a couple over 2 pounds, just a majority are 8-10 inches.
