    Default Boat Ramp Etiquette Video

Here's a video from KDWP that covers the finer points of boat ramp etiquette and a smooth launch and load at the ramp.

Very good pointers. This should be made available to all news channels to air Thursday or Friday for the weekend warriors to see.
I'll be at my slip at Clinton putting new carpet in my pontoon boat and watching the FUNNY SHOW at the boat ramp, motors not starting, dead batteries, hearing "OH SHOOT" then seeing a guy jump in the lake to put the drain plug in. Of course there will be the poor wives and girlfriends getting yelled at for jackknifing the trailer while backing the trailer up, or the guys yelling turn to the left, the left, now your other left.
Last year on Memorial Saturday I did not even leave my slip because it was too much fun watching the activities at the ramp by the marina.

It's really unfortunate that this video has to be shown, but it does. With so many newbies out there with boats these days everyone that owns a boat should have to apply for a liscense and be made to learn all this simple, common sense stuff (like what's in the video) BEFORE ever getting to the lake.:o

Agreed. I will forgive them every time for a lack of skill, but my blood boils when I see somebody with a lack of courtesy or common sense.

The one that burns me the most over at Wab is when they park in front of the ramp and then head into the bait shop to register their boat... Cuz parking NEXT TO the ramp just won't do... Those are either the boats that haven't been started since Labor Day last year or maybe they bought them off craigslist on the way to the lake. Either way, it's going to suck for everybody else in line when they finally do back the boat in because it won't start and then we end up waiting while they pretend to be a marine mechanic.Doh Oh well... Holiday weekends, whacha gonna do... I just try to relax and pray that I don't have to tow them back across the lake when their boat dies out on the water...Rofl

Oh yeah, NICE VIDEO! Maybe it would be a good idea to educate people about boat ramp etiquette when they register a new boat.

Personally, I learned it from a boat ramp master. My wife and I are pretty fast, but the guy who taught me how to launch ought to be in the guinness book of world records. He and his wife look like a nascar pit crew launching a boat. I mean, I've seen people in line applaud her when she drives by to park the truck/trailer. True story.

We need a video board at every boat ramp to play this so everyone can watch this before they get to ramp!

Informative yes but I was really hoping for a bloopers video.
