We don't have any around here, but I think that is a sauger.
I caught this little guy while fishing down around Truman dam. I'm guessing that it might be some type of darter, but it's just that....a guess.

Sauger is a cousin of walleye, and have plenty of teeth I think
Definitely a Sauger, and they do have teeth. Most MLL is 14'' in states that have them. Can't tell the length w/ no reference. Check your State regs. Fine eatin'! Where there's one, there's more!
Thanks to Labsandslabs for nailing this one. It turns out that it is a Logperch Darter. I should have been more specific in the OP that the picture was very close to the actual size of the little fella. As I stated in the OP, with a mouth like that and lack of dental ware, it definitely wasn't a walleye (or cousin sauger). This picture is from the internet.
Dead ringer.

Wallleye and sauger have the same length limit which is 15" They do not get as big as a walleye but taste just as good. You will find sauger deeper than walleyes when you find them, at least in the Mo and Miss
cute little thing to
Well... I learned something today.........again!
