    Default Gold Creek 10-26

After my frustrations at the Fall Crappie Camp, I went home and got my motor running (OR thought I did anyway.) After getting dragged into gold creek by a nice gentleman and his son, I got set up and started my trolling. Ole ceb was right, lake conway had a very nice hatch this year. Caught probably 50 or so and left at 11:30. I ended up keeping 10 but had one that was bigger than all the others combined, and my biggest yet. Chris weighed her back at the ramp at a whopping 2lbs 8 ounces and was 16" long. I caught her right next to the bottom on a orange head/silver chartruse shiney hiney. I also had a first. I caught a crappie on that same jig that already had a hook stuck in its mouth (Pic below). By all means, I had probably the best day of crappie fishing as far as numbers of fish, even though they were all on the small side..except one. I had four poles fishing at once and I was WELL entertained.

I'd like to send a great big shout out to my main man Chris for draggin my butt back to the ramp and not laughing to me. He even took the pic at the ramp for me.

Sounds like gold creek is about to jell!! I'll bet the big ones will be right alongside the little ones in a week or so...especially with this little cold snap we're havin'. <><

That's a proud fisherman there. Nice Conway crappie! In my two years there on Conway I only saw one troller in Gold Creek. I never knew what spider rigging was until I saw him out there. Looks like it caught on. Now I am set up front and rear. Bet you could only fit a few of you guys in there at once. Better get there early to get a spot. Caught a 3 lb. fish right in front of the first dock on the left past the bridge. Let her go back on that day, just didn't seem right to take her out. Loved that lake!! May see you guys in the next few weeks. Thinking of taking a trip there for a couple days.

Yeah...I won't say anything about him sitting back there makin' weird sounds with god knows what while pretending to be driving his boat...:D

Anywho, it was a sure nuf barn door crappie. I tell ya what, it'll dang near make you have a heart attack to be pullin' in all these tater chips and then out of no where latch on to that beast... Reminds me of Goocher screamin' like a little school girl to "get the net"...

You hit the nail on the head buddy. Yankin up those tater chips left and right and feel the thump on that jig. When I lifted up my pole, it didn't move at all. I was thinking "what the .." and then she took off. When I finally did get the net extended out (not figuring I would need it so it was laying in the bottom of the boat with tackle boxes, ice chests, etc. gathered on top of it) and got it under her, I screamed just like ol goocher on the inside. But you know, I do have an image to uphold, so I acted all cool about it...you know, like it was nothin!

Congrats on the goodurn Alan. You know I was thinking about you the other day and how you fish so many different waters in pursuit of that elusive hawg.

Now go get you a 2.9 pound weight (you obviously dont have a scale)and get back out and beat that record.
