Gold Creek is turning on. Fish a couple of hours Saturday morning, kept six one 16 inches. Sunday morning kept 6 again then my wife and I went back Sunday afternoon around 4 and kept 14 nice fish. Still catching a ton of small ones but the good fish are coming in.

Too bad Gold Creek isn't close enough to Hot Springs. lol Clear-lake Ouachita is still tough. I went out all day today and caught six, none over 11 inches.
Spied some turkeys as they roosted (big beards) and will be there 45 minutes before daylight with the Matthews ready to make No. 16 with a bow. How's that for countin' my chickens (turkeys) before they hatch? lol
Might as well hunt until the water cools another five degrees. <><

Well Dan, you know how it goes. Slipped off from work this afternoon with the crappie fever from hell since I'll be traveling all through the weekend into next week and won't get to fish again. On the heels of such a great Sunday, this afternoon (Tuesday) caught 42 little tiny guys. Ended up with three "ok" fish. I'm sure the bigger fish are moving in and the next two or three weeks should be a killer, but based on sheer numbers of small crappie, I hope that translates to the next few years being terrific.
Looks like the fall bite is on or near on most lakes around the state . Good luck to all who can resist the hunting urge and are still fishing.:D:D

Thanks for keepin' us updated, J. Glad you got the better half out there to show you how it's done. I sure would have loved to been there to see her put a whoopin' on you...:D
There must have been a heck of a spawn this spring. The tater chips are everywhere...and they can put down a bag of rosies in a second. I figure I'm just helping to fatten 'em up for winter...
Good job jhook....and Mrs jhook!
Hey J. Appreciate the report. I went up the creek Tuesday and fed the little ones too. Only had 6 "keepers" and only one of those was really nice. Should have taken my better half with me it sounds like. :D Oh well, there's always next time. Lots of fun though. Keep us posted as you get the chance.
Chris - ask Darryl and he'll tell you my wife, Fran, is very competitive when it comes to crappie. I tend to do more "guiding" when we're fishing together. She's all over it...make me a lucky man. I agree about the spawn. I don't ever recall catching the sheer number of little ones as I have the past few weeks.
