John I wish you would pick you up a camera and snap me some pics of that lake I love and never get to fish
Friday...Water temp = 70F and cooling
Got out early and got home late. Caught a bunch and kept nine. The largest was 15" w/ several 12s and 11s to make up the rest.
Brother Tom came back from Bass Pro Shop with a new Wally Marshall 14' rod. I fixed up a spinning reel, spooled Mr. Crappie Hi Vis and off I went.
I really broke his rod in for him. Talking to Nimrod I figured the clear water dictated different tactics. With the 14 rod and the 6lb test Hi Vis, a 1/16 oz white head weedless jig outfitted with a chartreuse Tripple Ripple and tipped with a small minnow fished about 10-12' deep over 20' of water (average), it all made for a good day.
Now, Tom and I are going again tomorrow. I hope he can catch some good ones with HIS new (well broke in) rod. lol

Good job AJ...Sounds lke your on them and getting some nice slabs.
Way to go AJ. I'll bet you can duplicate the feat today. Try to take a few pictures and post em so the rest of us can wish we were there.
I'm hoping to get to go Monday.
Glad your luck has changed if you can call it that. Tactics on the type of water matching can make all the difference. Maybe you will do good more often now that you've found something that works.
I had a great day on Nimrod Lake too , but Saturday was'nt the same. After hunting awhile I caught 6 nice Crappie 10 to 14''. But the wind got too bad and gave up.
Did haul out another load of pallet condos yesterday. That will hopefully pay off as well as the ones put in earlier close by it.:D
