Good looking catch froman....looks lie some nice slabs...glad you had a good trip with your father in law....where were you fishing at?
Caught these with my FIL (Father-in-Law) on Wednesday. We fished on Tuesday and did alright, we kept three. We got these on Wednesday fishing our jig poles, about 1-2 feet deep around trees, with green/green tubes and black/chart tubes. The fish seemed to be holding about 2-3 feet off of the trees and usually on the downwind side. It was fairly windy that day, with winds from probably 5-10 mph.
Caught these all day today on yoyos. About 15 of em hit early and then we'd get 2-5 off about every hour for the rest of the day. The crazy thing is that they were all 10-17 inches in length. Good sized crappie. The regularity of the hit and the size were crazy. We were obviously fishing minnows on the yoyos, but we also added three to the pile this afternoon by fishing green/green tubes around trees. It was dang windy out today. Not a "normal catch fish day". The wind was probably gusting at 15mph. It was overcast all day. And it's also the day after a major storm so water levels were up and clarity was a little muddy. We were the only boat on the lake all day. And we were catching fish.
