Default No respect for our parks

Went over to fish with my buddies this morning . After cleaning fish they BBQ some Chicken . While we were sitting at the table I noticed something disturbing . A woman was chopping on a live Pine tree at their camp site . Then a man came over and tried to show her how to do it . Then threw the hatchet and stuck it in the tree . A small boy came over and went to chopping on the tree . People set examples for your kids not teach them bad habits . I bet the COE would have a fit if the rangers saw it .

A lot of people are clueless and some just don’t care.

It is not just the parks it is everywhere. Look at the amount of trash on the ground anywhere you look. Didn't used to be that way

Biting my tongue but the parks and lakes across this country are a disaster. It’s very sad.

That is sad but even sadder is the square miles of plastics floating in our oceans and on beaches.

Both of my sons live in the county. Their trash collection service is changing now. The old company offered 1 or more household trash carts. 1 or more for recyclable materials. 1 or more for yard waste at no extra fees. The new company offers 1 trash cart. All other carts will cost half of the regular service fee. So back to trash bags to fill landfills instead of items being recycled.

In the USA there are many recycling centers. Drop off what you don't want in the right boxes. Most are labeled Plastic, Paper/Cardboard and Metals. Some people think they are eyesores and want them hidden, later removed. There used to be 3 in my town, now 2 in the county. 8 and 15 miles from me.

We don't have enough companies to reproduce the recyclable materials, plastics. The EPA is making sure of that.

We use our trash compactor for our recyclables (plastics etc) and take them along with cardboard and paper to dumpsters positioned around our county. I take metals to the junkyard for free just to get rid of it. Imagine how much stuff is already in the earth. Mind boggling…

    Back to the OP.
People don't read the rules before heading out in the wild. For some a campground is wild. Plus the host and rangers aren't doing their check ups like they should.

We found a new to us COE campground about 15 years ago. It was wooded, but you could see beyond all the trees. There were 12 host that kept the place clean. Grills and fire pits were emptied into buckets and hauled off. Grass and saplings were cut. Could walk the roads and see the lake with most every step. Our last few times there things had changed. 1 path of a mower along the edge of the roads were cut, no weed eating. Might have to walk 50 or more feet to see the lake. Grills were cleaned out, mostly dumped off the patio, fire pits were full. I let the COE manager know my dislikes and we haven't been back.
