    Default Nimrod fishing crashed!

The fishing on Nimrod on our baited holes has crashed. I caught fish last weekend. But the cats must have made the move to the backwaters. I took Dixon and his sons out this morning. We did'nt catch a fish ! I hope when the water falls the fish move back on our baited holes. Talked to a couple of fishermen and all said it was slow. There were a few Crappie caught trolling weighted crankbaits off the brushline. The water temp was 88 degrees and we have twice the normal amount of water in the lake.

What time of year do you normaly find it best to bait your holes? I baited a few holes on Ouachita a for the past few weeks and have yet to find time to go fish them.

    Default That is fishing!

The boys and I still had good time. Enjoyed meeting AC and learning how to fish Lake Nimrod. We will be back when the water falls out.

The bite is off on Greeson too - too much high water and tons and tons of shad everywhere. Anybody doing any good on DeGray? I'm thinking about taking a scouting trip down there soon.

I figure there's too much water and the fisies are plum stuffed w/ whatever goodies they want nowadays.

I am almost hoping for the dry-Summer spell to set in a bit. Anyways, I'm tired of mowing ever blasted week... 'about feel like I'm still in SE Texas....'cept for the hurricane watch!

The amount of water in Nimrod is double normal amount. We probably will catch fish if the water stays up , just have find find them. I caught 5 nices ones this morning in 10' of water. That's in an area normally too shallow to get in with a boat ! The normal brushpiles in 5' to 8' ' water have an extra 9' of water and the fish perfer shallower most of the time here.
The first 5 times I dropped in a jig this morning produced 4 nice Crappie. I think they will bite. Just locating them will be tough. The Bass fishermen are catching early morning before the sun gets up and bright. Cats are being caught in the brush on trotlines. Our best hope is no more rain and the Corps dump out our excess water.

Amen on the grass cutting. Most of my yard is natural (heh-heh). I weed eat it in the spring and one more time in the fall. I have already done it three times this year. The natural bit is not as much fun this year since it is on the side of a mountain. I tell the wife to just not look at it. But, she refuses.
