I don't trout fish but my son does a little. I'll ask him next time I see him.
Crappie anglers of Arkansas,
I'm looking to plan a trip with the in laws to Arkansas. The plan is to pull our tear drop camper down with some tents and fish on a stream for trout. Any advice on a general area we could camp with a high likelihood of catching some trout? I don't really care what kind as long as the action will be decent. Looking to go in 3 to 4 weeks. We'll be coming from nebraska so something on the northern/Western side would be ideal, but not a deal breaker.
Thanks in advance for any tips!! Tight lines!!

CATCH A BIG-UN
Just below Greers Ferry Lake is a park on Little Red River. John F. Kennedy Park is located on the Little Red River just downstream of Greers Ferry Dam in the beautiful Ozark Mountains of north-central Arkansas. Go to recreation .gov site to reserve campsites.

I fished Spring River years ago from the bank but there are canoe rentals and campgrounds near by . Many listed on State Park website . Mammoth Spring State Park | Arkansas State Parks

Beaver lake tail water is probably the closest nwa trout fishing. Has .gov campground as well.
Roaring river is another very close to nwa that has camping but this is in Missouri just across state line.
I typically go to the Branson, MO area and fish taneycomo which is table rock tail water but more so for the other area attractions that keeps da wife busy whilst I fish.
On all the Arkansas water listed in this thread, you can get a weekly report from the Agfc.com weekly fishing report as well.

Check out the area around Norfork Ar which would include the Norfork or White rivers. A nice campground would be Dam Quarry a Corp of Engineer site, also you would be able to wade fish within 100 yards of your tent or RV. Also, there are a multitude of guides available. Many consider these locations to be world class trout fishing.
All the lakes with cold water release dams mentioned are great trout waters that the AG&F stock with trout. But be aware most of these lakes are flood control lakes that can have high discharge at that time of the year. High discharge is not your friend when bank fishing for trout. The Coast Guard online reports the flow. Mammoth Springs and Roaring River are both spring fed with constant flow, good option if the rivers have to much flow.
