    Default Livescope newbie

I finally pulled the trigger on livescope plus. I’m waiting to get over sticker shock to buy my graph. I plan to build the unit in a portable box. For now I’m fishing out of my duck hunting boat but thinking of getting rid of that and buying an aluminum bass boat at which time I would mount the livescope in the new boat. So until then I would love to hear from locals that have built a portable livescope unit. What you used to build it, what size graph you used, power source, and such.

Mine is not portable but would recommend using a plastic ammo box and quick connects for a lithium battery . I use a Amped Outdoors 32ah which comes with a charger and weighs only about 5 lbs . Way better than drill batteries IMO . Runs my 1242xsv and black box all day going on 3 rd year . Should use quick connects on battery and charger connections .

I bullt mine portable about 3 years ago using an orange Plano Dry Storage box. I mounted the 9" screen on top and put the black box inside along with a Milwaukee 18v battery adapter for the source of power. I have several Milwaukee batteries that I use with my power tools so it works out great for me. I made my transducer pole from pvc and use a Ram mount. I have a Ram ball on each side of my boat so that I can use the pole on whichever side that I want. I also have a Ram ball on a C-clamp so that I can take my livescope along while fishing out of my buddy's boat. Whenever we go fishing together, we always have our own livescope while both fishing in the front of our boats.

I made my 2nd unit portable as well. I wanted to use in big boat, kayak and docks. I went a little bigger with 10inch screen and 19qt minnow cooler (could’ve got by with 13qt). Screen mounts to cooler and black box/batteries inside. Added some switches and power outlets for the portability. Used ram mounts for screen and pole ducer.

Blackjeep that’s what I’m looking at making. I would like to use a smaller box to store it in as my deck space is at a premium. What’s the smallest box I could get the black box and a 30 ish ah battery in you think?

I bought one of those waterproof boxes from harbor freight and put my 1222 gpsmap with black box and all cables in it. Put my Amped 48ah battery in small ammo box! Mine is 100% portable. Put power connection on side of battery box. Cut holes for cords to come out of big box to keep it closed while in use. Also put a bracket on top of big box for screen should I take it on another boat.

My 13qt Engel was about perfect to hold black box, battery and cables. But I’d already bought and cut this Magellan 19qt.
