Just returned from Lake Ouachita Hwy 27 Fishing Village. Last weekend was tough. Very few caught. Monday the bite improved with a lot of people catching fish. Water temperature hovering around 60 degrees. Water on the dirty side with the runoff from recent rains. Lake down about 4 foot from this time last year forcing crappie to find new areas to spawn. If you can find buckbrush in about 5 foot of water you can catch fish. Minnows worked well. Rosey reds or regular didn't seem to make a difference. Sixteenth to one-eight ounce jigs in either black or blue with a chartreuse twister or paddle tail worked well also. I prefer the sixteenth ounce but had to go heavier in the wind. The wind made it hard to fish the flats so some of the deep water coves in the back ends produced a few fish as well. Some pretty good fish were brought in still full with eggs. Our daughter caught this nice crappie in the Muddy Creek area. Weighed 2.41 lbs.
