    Default No they’re not…..

I had a guy in my office today comment on a bass I have on my wall. I said “yeah, I really only crappie fish now”. He tells me about how his buddy is catching lots three pounders and some four pounders in a nearby lake…. I was able to keep myself from blurting out “no they’re not” and responded with a simple “show me the scales”.

Like you, lots of guys say “only crappie fish now”. I wonder why? Is it too much hassle to keep up with gear, etc. ? Pure love of crappie challenge or preferred table fare? Though I prefer crappie fishing, the tug on a wacky worm or blow up on a topwater is equally exciting as the “thump”.
Crappie community definitely superior to bass guys IMO…maybe that’s it.

I do need to diversify my fishing some in pursuit of other species. I may go back to a little bass fishingas well in summer

You are right about that. I’ve never met or talked to a crappie fisherman that wasn’t ready to help any way they could. Most bass fisherman won’t help at all.

Bass fishing is a douche-fest. It’s more about have the best gear money can buy, than it is catching fish.

My brother was sitting on the bank the other day, waiting for a bream bite, and a couple of bass holes coasted by on a $50,000 boat. They looked over at him and he heard one say to the other, “Bait and wait!”, and they proceeded to laugh hysterically to each other.

I told my brother, “I guess they don’t like to eat fish.”
