    Default Shad movement

Noticed yesterday when launching the boat, tons and tons of small shad jumping everywhere. Now with our lake being about 2ft low, and the bayous having only around 1.5-2fow of water in them, will the shad still move in them and the crappie follow?

The white crappie will follow the shad more so than the black crappie

Most fishermen don't really understand how shallow Crappie go all year on some lakes

crappie are just like everything else. they will go where the food is. I have caught crappie with their backs all but sticking out of the water they were so shallow.

One more question. I know it’s important to “match the hatch” when the shad move up in the creeks. Should I also match the color as well as possible, or go with something completely different?

Contrast or you will get lost in the hatch, match size but definitely have contrast. That's my theory and I am sticking to it.

Any color combination will work as long as one of the colors is chartreuse

Bait not as important as presentaion . Several times I seen Crappie holding under schools of Shad . Just
drop a bait on them as they are watching to see one fall out of the school for easy pickins . Livescope makes this possiable

Colors can vary. Switch until you get a bite that the hook is buried in the roof of the mouth.

I never change colors but put it on their nose . Use dark or bright color with chartreuse . My favorites are purple/chartreuse and orange/ chartreuse . Colors or more for fishermen and their confidence . IMO .
