    Default Jigging with Minners

I can't seen to hook my minnows on my jig with plastic where it diesn't come off after I fish 2-3 trees. Any suggestions? Thanks. Cypress Jigger

You hooking lips or through the eyes . Second question is are you using sickle hooks ? Most have small barbs . Third question is do you really need to tip with minnows ?

Hook them thru the eyes if your going to use them....Otherwise dont use them and spray or dip your jig with Slab Sauce
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Are you bringing the hook point through the boney part above the lips or just through the lips? If you are not poking the point through the boney part you might give that a try. Left you a note the other day at the ramp. If you see me out there feel free to swing by and say hello. G3 with a fat boy in a straw hat up front.

I got your note. I had a few that day . Went back Thursday and finished with nine. All deep black males. Not 1 female in the bunch. Smallest 12 1/2, largest 15 1/4. All in 9-12 ft of water. Same here, just come over and say hi. Old 14' jon boat with Tohatsu engine and fat ole man with a white Titleist floppy hat.

I have found that minners don't stay on sickle hooks as well as a regular hook.
