Jim Dandy Fish again Nimrod and thanks for your report . I am another who dearly loves eating the Flats, You are completely right about being careful in the heat.Hope you recover soon.
Yesterday was a another slab swinging day . Fished alone till a buddy showed up in his boat . I swung 61 big ones ( over 12'' ) and lots of smaller ones . I like Mad fishing's button a friend gave me awhile back . Can count total big ones and still keep count of limit . Used 13' Phantom rod and Timmy Tom jig heads rigged with purple/chartreuse Umbrella tubes . Most were suspended and pitch to them using livescope . Big Crappie was 16'' and caught a Flathead Catfish which is my favorite fish to eat . Kept a limit for a neighbor .
Think I got too hot and was so busy I forgot to stay hydrated . Folks remember no matter how good fishing is stop and drink something . Still kinda feeling weak and dizzy this morning .
The heat and humidity is no joke right now. We have been working outside for weeks. Drink plenty of water and something with electrolytes. I keep a couple of frog tog cooling towels in my cooler and put one around my neck as the sun gets higher. It helps a lot.

Big fan of “the button” fish counter. I’ve used product for hydration a doc recommended called “Liquid IV” that comes in individual packets. Added to water it equals about 3x normal hydration.
Fantastic catch Nimrod!

Pre-hydrate, hydrate, and post-hydrate is what my Army friend says. He should know after two tours to Iraq.

Very nicely done as usual. I know that dizzy and dehydrated feeling quite well here lately... and have started carrying several gatorades in the cooler along with some drinking water.
It's amazing what a difference gatorade, moisture wicking long sleeves, uv protection gloves, neck gator and a big straw hat makes on these hot and humid dog days.
Everyone needs to take the heat and humidity very seriously and be very careful preventing heat stroke.
