I’ve noticed recently at Greeson and Ouachita folks gathering driftwood near ramps. Doesn’t matter to me except I don’t like them wandering around parking lot and I worry they may be scouting for something else. Are there laws on taking driftwood? Curious.

My wife told me driftwood is a big craft/decorating thing right now. She said a small piece of driftwood was going for $20 plus at the stores.

I knew of 2 retired Federal game wardens once that would gather it on several lakes and they traveled to taxidermists and sold pieces for 5 bucks apiece. This was about 20 years ago. I think you need some kind of a permit to do it but I'm not sure.

Never have give it a thought. That used to be one of our ceremonies when camping on islands. We would gather driftwood for the fire pit. Still do.
