I only had about an hour and a half to fish, but I convinced this one to eat!

May I ask what kind of grub? That looks like either a Bobby Garland or Crappie Magnet!

Nimrod needs to show you no net landing skills it's all in the fishing rod. I get in his boat nothing but cooler little tackle box and four fishing rods, i use my own rods my vest and little cooler keep lunch cold. The best thing is great conversation while watching live scope and putting fish in the livewell big crappie.

It's funny you bring that up... I've been a "no-netter". I fish out of a small boat and I'm paring down gear as much as I can. I sit on the very front of my boat and skull. I've not even taken my trolling motor for my last few trips. I got gift cards to various fish-centric retailers for Christmas, so I spent a little of it on that net. I'm not convinced I'm going to keep it in the boat. It's in the way and I'm not sure I catch big fish often enough to justify having it under foot. I'm really enjoying trying to become a one-pole, one-jig minimalist crappie fisherman.

Go see BRM overthere in West Memphis for a boat best price around, then you pick it up in batesville where they build them real close to you. Your close to the best duck hunting in the USA if not the world.

many a crappie can be had going light . I often have a handful of jigs and a rod and my feet and do pretty well .
keeping it simple and not overly complicated is how I often do it .
keep after them , its only a short window before the black crappie will start the spawn .
a small bright orange jig with a chartreuse tail and a steep rocky shoreline with a tiny float is often a real good time in late Feb.
