Gold creek ramp not much better. Those drop offs will tear a trailer up. They need to fix them.

Just want to warn everybody that tries to launch at Hi Way landing on Conway. I was there at 5:45 this morning and when I got my trailer halfway backed in, a guy come out of the baitshop waving his arms and hollering. He told me not to let my trailer go past the white pole sticking up because there is about a 2ft drop off. He said had 2 guys tear up their trailers friday and saturday. I just pulled back out and went to Gold Creek. I don't understand why Chuck doesn't have a sign up or some kind of warning, if I had gotten there earlier then I probably would have a torn up trailer as well. My question is why does AGFC not make him fix the ramp?

I use the AGFC public Ramps, they are nice ramps. Lawrence landing, Adams Lake, Caney Creek, Palarm Creek, Peirce Creek. Greens Lake. Plenty of Free Ramps that are in Perfect Condition with the right Degree of drop so you dont have to fight with your boat when loading and unloading. At Adams lake landing there is even a mooring dock so you don't have to beach your boat on rocks. Wish they would add one At Lawrence landing. Lawrence landing to Gold Creek 2-3 minute Boat ride away. It take 3-4 Minutes from Lawrence Landing to 89 Bridge.

Got to agree with the bad drop off at the Gold creek ramp. Got hung up and didn't think I was going to get my boat back out.
Most of the privately owned pay to use ramps are in desperate need of repair. The ramp at Paradise Landing is no exception. Buddy of mine tore up his trailer there, dropped of the end of the ramp. The AGFC allows private fee ramps on Conway. There should be a standard of upkeep required and enforced, if a fee is charged to launch a boat for profit on any AGFC lake. JMO.

The only private ramp I have used is at Gold Creek. Nice enough owner and very convenient to launch if fishing Gold Creek, just had problems with the drop off. I have no clue what it would cost to fix the ramp, might be way more than I can imagine. I wish them well and hopefully I can launch there again in the near future.
I talked to Dan yesterday and he has placed and spread two buckets of B stone at the end and sides of the ramp. He normally does this every year but the cancer put a hurting on him last year. All should be good there now. Also, we will be getting ahold of Chuck at Hiway Landing and Smitty at Paradise Landing. We hope to have this ramp issues resolved within the next two weeks. If not, they will be asked to close the ramps until the issues have been taken care of. Thanks for the heads up on these ramps. As usual, feel free to call me directly with issues like this. Thanks.

Chuck at Hiway landing will be closing his ramp until it can be fixed. Hopefully he can perform the maintenance soon. We are still in the process of tracking down Smitty at Paradise Landing.
