I figure mostly just coincidence. I never noticed a difference . I think fishermen more interested in color than the fish . Just saw another facebook post where a spider rigger caught Crappie on the lead weight above his minnow .
Went Overcup yesterday and fished minnows deep and had one rod that had dark colored brown hook and the rest gold hooks. Only caught fish on the dark colored hook. I was wondering why and the other rods were the same depth same everything but the hook color crappie ignored them? Anybody ever noticed a difference in hook color getting more bites? It seems to me the hook color wouldn’t make that much difference but I didn’t get a bite with the normal flashy gold hook.

I painted some egg weights chartreuse and some red. They both about drove me crazy. Them crappie would grabor bump them weights much as they would take minnow.

On two different occasions I caught a crappie on red sickle hooks before I got the poles baited. Both were small. Never had it happen with gold or bronze.
