Hey Matt, If there is concern about flooding houses around lake conway, why stop at 1 foot ? why not 2? I live on the lake and had to rebuild from the 2011 flood so that's why I'm concerned
thanks
Increased chance for flooding around Lake Conway during high Arkansas River level - News
Due to the prediction of the Arkansas River reaching historic flood elevations along much of its path in Arkansas, including Toad Suck Pool, we are currently drawing down Lake Conway one foot (1-ft) below normal pool level. See attached press release for more info. This isn’t something that we like to do at all but unfortunately it is needed in this instance.

I understand and appreciate your concern. We couldn’t get it down much more than a foot. It was discharging slow already due to the Creek being full. Not much head pressure to evaluate water. We are unsure how much water will back fill into the lake but we think the extra foot of storage will be beneficial without taking the lake down too low.

Thanks
I went midweek and it seemed a little high. I went back Saturday and saying it had been dropped was no joke. I caught a dozen keepers that I brought home for a member of my church that can no longer get out there to fish like he use to. Attempting to get out in the trees was like going through a minefield. If anyone goes to Conway take it slow and understand getting hung up on a stump multiple times a day is going to happen. It happens every time during normal levels but with the drop getting stuck happens way more often. But kudos for thinking ahead. The fish aren't going anywhere.

Any updates or predictions on the gates holding with another 3 feet of water coming? People are concerned that many creeks in Conway may back up and flood areas of the city.
No real updates. The water in Palarm Creek below the dam is still not flowing back in to the lake. We still think that it will at sometime but not really sure when. We were guessing that it would have by now.

Interesting. Yea today the coe website indicated 4 or 5 more feet of water for the Terry pool and an expected crest on 6/1 or 6/2.

Water started trickling back over the dam into the lake at around 8:00am this morning.

Im not seeing any water backing up in any of the creeks other than the Cadron, obviously. I wonder if the water has gone over the dikes near the new sewage plant or the airport area in Lollie? I know it has further south around Easterwood and on towards Mayflower. The airport has water surrounding it, but I dont know where the water is entering from to do this.
Anyone know about the Tupelo bayou levels or if it has been taken over? It may be on a good bit higher ground, I cant remember.
Nevermind. It doesnt have a direct shot to the river
