    Default Bear Creek

Got off work the next couple days and going to Bear Creek. I’ve never fished for crappie there. I’m not asking for anyone’s spot but any tips (depth, jig, etc) would be appreciated

Bass fishing is good. Bream fishing is good. Tough crappie fishing lake.

I have fished it once in the summer for Redear/Shellcracker. We used 1/32 head with a tiny black grub thrown up against the rocks.

Not sure about the crappie... very nice lake. 9.9 limit.
Crappie are snobby..... Why can't they be easy to catch...Like bass?

We have put out a lot of open water structure there. All the points are on the AGFC website: Fish Attractors
We shocked it for bass last week. Saw crappie up shallow around bigger structure. It is a tough one for crappie though like some folks said. Lower numbers compared to other places but great growth. Those that are catching them are reporting catching 14”+ fish.

I think that is acceptable but I’ve never done it on my Ranger. I just drop the tm and fish. The rules say the motor has to be incapacitated but I’ve never done it.

There is a sign posted at the kiosk at the ramp for both Bear Creek and Storm Creek that says the motor (if over 10HP) has to be disabled by: removing prop, removing gas tank, or removing spark plug.

I know AGFC officers will check to see if a motor is disabled and I think the state park rangers do too.
Thanks hawgdog, joekiller thanked you for this post
