    Default Hey Arkansas fisherman,,,

my wife and I have finally decided to pull the trigger and make a move to Arkansas, my wife birth place,,, we have been looking in the Beaver Lake area for homes but have found that this area prices of home are a tad high for our liking,,,hoping to find a 2000sqft home with a little elbow room for property for less then 200,000 is a chore,,,looking now at the Bella Vista area to keep us close to hospitals so my wife feels comfortable after her stroke a few years ago,,,any suggestions to what areas would be best of both worlds ,,,needs a good hospital, a little land, and lastly some good fishing for around 200ish,,. If I had things my way,,,I’d look in Busch where I hear trout fishing is wonderful,,,,just too far from everything else,,,

Russellville , close to hospitals , shopping and several great fishing lakes nearby .Have to drive a little ways to go Rainbow Shad ( Trout ) fishing . Russellville is a good sized town but still small home town atmosphere . It sets right on bank of Arkansas River / Dardanelle lake .

Hot Springs area is high retirement and surrounded by many lakes with good healthcare and less than hour from Little Rock. Cons of HS are lots of tourist and I’m not a casino/horse track type - though many are.

    Default Hey Arkansas fisherman,,,

North Central Arkansas is also a good area. Look around the Mountain Home area. Right between Bull Shoals and Norfolk Lakes and both of those lakes have tailwaters to fish for trout too. Also a hop skip and a jump away from Crooked Creek and the Buffalo River. I live in the Conway area and it is a great area to live but if I were retiring I would move north into the mountains. Baxter Regional Hospital is in Mountain Home too. There are also several small towns around Mountain Home. Really nice place to live. I lived up there for three years before my wife got home sick and we moved back to central Arkansas. I would move back there is a heart beat.

I lived in Russellville/Dardenele for 2 years and Springdale/ Fayetteville for 5 years back in mid 80’s to 90. Fished beaver and Dardanell for bass back then. If I was to move back to Arkansas Russellville are would be it for me. It has everything Nimrod talked about. And just the overall home town atmosphere made me comfortable from my first day there. And with its central location you can be anywhere in the state in a short period of time. The way it has grown since I left there no way I’d move back to NW Arkansas. Now if your wife has ties to that area that’s a different story altogether especially with her condition. If I had to go back up there the Siloam Springs area is where I would probably look first.

I'm about to put my house on the market next week. Prob will list for ~200. East side of Springdale. 9 minutes from launching at Blue Springs on Beaver Lake. 10mins from the Fayetteville mall. 15min from washington regional (maybe closer to springdale hospital).

30min from lake sequoyah (I've caught several 2lb slabs there)

    10min lake Fayetteville

50min from Busch (headed there in the morning actually)

I keep my boats in the driveway

    3bd 2ba 1700sq ft
Not a lot of elbow room since it's in a neighborhood

Hot Springs-have to be cautious with crime in certain areas-just keep in mind.
