I've had good luck putting in at Chystal Springs and fishing between there and the main lake.
Saw a little kid catch a beauty off the bank in the campground.
I live in the Village and interested in learning Ouachita.
What is the best launch sight for Crappie? Are the best crappie fishing on the west side of the lake?

Back in the day, we would crappie at little fir. Been a LONG time since I have been there so I am not sure now days.
Been fishing Ouachita my whole life. You can find crappie in a lot of areas around the lake. I have caught most of my biggest crappie 14-17 inches on the east end of the lake on brush piles and boat docks. I have caught a lot more on the west end and also up in creeks. I can not remember the site now but there are projects by certain groups that also put out habitat in the lake to draw in crappie, they have gps cords that they give out freely. When spring hits, I would focus on the feeder creeks as they move shallow once the water gets between 50-57 degrees, depending on the amount of rain and dirty water it is early sometimes and later sometimes. End of Feb, March and April are the main spawn times, again depending on the weather. I think if you ask around on this Arkansas board someone will be able to give you the link to those public crappie condos. I wish I had saved the link for you. Good luck.

I have been fishing this lake for over 25 years...so about a total of 25 weeks. If you go to Lake Ouachita - Largest Lake in Arkansas. you will find coordinates to sunken crappie beds. I have tried a few with little luck.
The water is very clear and you can spook the fish easily. BTW I will be there around Easter... good luck.
