Sorry can't help on cow bayou. I know it can get right. But how have you been doing at 9 mile? 8-10 years ago it was outstanding. Nice color and nice crappie around every deep cover. Flooded one spring and stays dingy since plus full of jumping carp. I have gone from 200 a day with 30 or so good ones to a handful of dinks.

Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
The two loudest sounds are a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and one that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.

Twenty years ago when we lived In Jonesboro we fished Cow Bayou some but can't help you now. Welcome to Crappie.Com from Fayetteville.

9 mile has been good in the last few years but it’s no where near a 200 a day lake. 2 summers ago we caught around 50 jigging the tops. Never went back due to work. Last summer we caught a very few but we haven’t actually hit it hard since. Now Keithley lake in Madison is very hard to get in to. No boat with a trailer can get in here but luckily I have a 12 foot Jon boat. Only locals fish it for bream and it’s over populated with crappie. 100 fish in just a few hours was common but you have to weed through the little ones to get your limit of eating size fish.

I haven't fished Cow Bayou since they put in the road with the culverts. Never have been to the upper end. I go by there weekly. I did notice the water is up and is flooded into the edge of the fields on the far side.
So I guess the river is in it? We caught some huge crappie in a bait net last summer at the culverts. We let them all go
