It's got fish I would go toward the state park area

Has any one ever fished Catherine. We will be camping there next week and don't know if it would be worthwhile to take my boat.

I have fished it. That lake is one I hate to fish, for crappie anyway. I would enjoy the stay and take the boat a few extra miles to Hamilton.
Right below Carpenter dam is a very popular spot, especially with kayakers. One morning last year I saw my buddy catch a 38” striper there. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a crappie caught in Catherine, I know for sure I’ve never caught one.

I hit it hard for 3 days last spring and never did catch a crappie.
It's mostly a waste of time. Lake is just not fertile anymore. You can put in at Sunnybrook ramp which is just the other side of dam on Hamilton side and have a much better time and catch some fish.
Best bet would be the area below Carpenter Dam to the bridge and a ways past the bridge, or around the state park area. Couple of years ago I caught a 14.5 inch slab on a maribo jig while kayak fishing below the dam in the eddies during generation. Personally, I wouldn't take a boat close to the dam. Too many large rocks. From the fishing docks and downstream, boats should be ok.
