Just got the boat back after not having it for a month, and am headed out to try Conway in the morning. Hopefully the fish are biting.

Let’s just say conway kicked my butt yesterday, tar and feathered me and spit in my face. No fish pictures to share, one destroyed prop, and a lot of creases and scratches on the bottom of a 3 month old boat. Let’s just say it was miserable. Trolling motor battery never took a good charge the night before and when I checked it last night it was about a quart of water low. The trolling motor was about useless to use.
With that said, I did notice Shad in shallow jumping, and watched a couple catching bass out of the Lilly pads. The lake is about a foot low. The boat lanes are not to be trusted, the worst stump I hit was in the boat lane and I was just idling.
Several times I thought we were gonna sink the boat trying to get off stumps.

Ouch! Sorry to hear ole stumpy claimed another prop! I know those kind of days too well, been on plenty of trips like that. But, those days turn into memeries we share and help us appreciate the easy trips when the fish thump the bait every time it goes in the water. Thats just part of this addiction. Thanks for sharing. I have a feeling we could all share stories of those kind of days.

I have been wanting to try Conway, but now you got me spooked.
Lake Conway is a good place to BREAK in a boat, motor, and trolling motor that is for sure. If you ain't sure about your path of travel slow and steady is the way to go. Just use caution when navigating as the lake is really starting to see the effect of not having any substantial rainfall and is below normal pool. Water turkeys are here now by the hundreds if not thousand and they brought the pelicans back with them. Its recommended that you don't look up when they fly overhead.
I knocked a cowling off out there once, probably ten years ago... bet it's still sitting at the bottom of the lake. I watched it sink.
