Default How hot is the water?

I was on Lake Conway this past Saturday, According to my Lowrance HDS 7, The water temp at the surface at 2:00 in the afternoon was 99.5 degrees. The other graph I have is also a Lowrance, Elite 7 DI chirp, I turned them both on and the second graph said 99.6 degrees. The fish had to be about half boiled. When its that hot their appetites fall off considerably. When a ole gar wont even pop at a jig its to hot.

Nimrod was mid 80's but was cloudy this morning . Some lakes already in 90's on surface with full sun . I think it is more low oxygen than temps that hurts fishing in heat of summer . Shallow lakes have little or no thermocline and some that do have extremely low oxygen below that . The temp reading also depends on water depth and transducer depth in full sun or shade . My reading came off trolling motor transducer about 18'' deep , turn off the one on transom cause it is only inches under the surface .

fish in the shade or stay home and mow the yard if you are going to just be out in the sun

The transducer on my trolling motor read just slightly warmer than the one on the Jack plate. On my Bass Cat the LSS-2 transducer is almost as deep as the Down imaging transducer on the trolling motor since it is mounted to the jack plate with a transducer shield.

The fish will bite if you can find them . But been tough keeping up with the mowing but that will change if it does not rain .
