Default Helpers up "The Creek" and Clear Lake

I need to give credit where credit is certainly due. My lovely Bride of 25 years decided to make a concentrated effort to "Go Fish" with me more. Like way more... She previously only would come if they were "really biting". Well Becky has blown me away by going every single weekend during the month of April and we had a Blast of a time. She wants to
go all the time now !! What have I done ?!

Here are a few Pics of our adventures in Spring Crappie fishing.

*The French Bulldog guarding my Cold one, is Gus. He is THE boss on these trips and loves his shady spot set up by Becky. He is our boat buddy and reviews and then approves all Slabs for the live well. At fish cleaning time he expects he helpings of Roe, which he quickly gobbles up.

*The beautiful Lab came out and swam right up to me at Clear Lake. He was accompanied by a female who keep her ground on the bank. But He swam around the boat for 10 minutes... We ran down the Lake a ways and he promptly got out and ran down about a mile or so down the bank and came back in the water swimming right up to me with an intent look on his face. We then crossed the Lake to the other bank...he promptly crossed over to us followed by a female Lab. Then we really took off...by motoring down half way around the lake. 15 Minutes later...there he and her are. Looking at us as he jumped back in like Ahhh Hahh !!! Never seen anything like this ...ever. We just had to keep fishing the best we could with our new sidekicks til we pulled out. Gus was under the Console and slept through the whole thing....guarding my cold one.

*Becky and her Slab with me with my Colorful pumpkin seed catch of the Day !!

Nice pics. Glad you had a good spring.

Man that's hilarious about the two labs. I've never heard of anything like that. But then with Labradors you should never be surprised. They are great dogs, I'm sure they just wanted to be friendly neighbors, or so they thought. I don't know what you could have done differently. Go to another lake I guess. Once my wife started fishing with me she went every time I did. And it stayed that way until we had grandkids, now she'll only go when there's no chance of being with them. And your wife barely looks over 25, congratulations, you're a lucky man. Thanks for the post.

My wife has also fished with me for several years. I really think we are fortunate that our spouses can share with us the passion of crappie fishing. Thanks for posting the story and pictures.

I sure hope that is a PFD I see strapped on that cute French Bulldog you have. They sink straight to the bottom with no swimming ability whatsoever

We are well schooled in Frenchy do's and don'ts. I thank you for your concern and observation. Its true how most of them sink like a rock... but believe it or not, this one will swim in our pool down in the 18" deep Coral Reef end with us. We sit in there and let Him dog paddle back and forth between Becky and me. He is only in there when we are out there. He goes for short burst for a few laps, then he's done ready to just lay out.
