Caney creek, The 89 bridge, Lawrence landing, the Adams lake access, Palarm creek access, are Public access points and I have seen trash like this at all of them, it is sad to see the free resources trashed and abused by individuals who just don't give a @#$*. If they had to pay a littering ticket, possible fishing without a license, and court costs, Maybe they would change their attitude towards just leaving their trash when they finish fishing.
Welcome to the home of the, boat eating, trolling motor busting, prop bending, lower unit smashing, stump filled mud hole called Lake Conway.

I would like to see the AGFC hire two or three grounds keepers to maintain the public accesses and put out trash cans and charge 2-5 dollars parking and boat launch fees at every public access to include HWY 89 bridge, Caney creek to pay their salaries. This is the only way your going to stop it and it gives two or three folks jobs to take care of their families. i for one am more than willing to pay a small fee each time I fish Lake Conway if I know its going to a good cause. I don't know about the rest of you but I like like to fish in and see clean environments that don't have trashed up banks. I ust to love fishing the 89 bridge and caney creek areas but can't stand to see all the Trash. Too many beautiful spots that are not trashed up, to haft to see that crap. No offence Matt but I think its way past time to put up charge boxes and hire some AGFC folks to do the job needed here on Conway. I know the money made at the drop boxes will cover the salaries of the employees, and then some for extra maintenance around the lake. If bank fisherman want to use the privilege of fishing from the banks on Lake Conway they should pay a fee just like allot of other sites do with day use and boat launch fees. The places that do this are also much more cleaner than Lake Conway's wild wild west trash banks. the city of Conway is growing and growing, with more and more fisherman moving in every day, with this said the problem is only going to get worse if not addressed.

Update on this guy . Let AGFC know and they are suppose to be sending him something . Don't know what that is but even free trash bags would help .

No offense taken Russ. I wish it were that easy. I could go into the complexities of state government and creating new positions but it is boring and hard to understand. Basically, it is next to imposible to get new positions created. We could possible hire a contractor to do more maintenence but as you pointed out, it would take a few people who's only responsibility is to take care of access areas on the lake. Also, I am not sure if we could legally charge use fees on a state owned lake that has used federal funds at the access areas. Again, there are some pretty complex and nonsensical laws out there that make things difficult. I am not trying to make excuses, just pointing out some of our limitations. I appreciate your suggestion and welcome ideas that are outside the box. We recognize that it is a big problem and we will have to use a creative solution to fix the problem.

Thanks for listening Matt Yep I don't understand all the red tape... But what I am suggesting would make the lake a much cleaner and better place to take a five year old child down to the bank and catch a fish from the bank after work. Maybe some development around the 89 bridge would help also. Take some pics or video of whats going on in those areas and send to the powers that be, with a note "hey got a problem that needs to be fixed". I know you will do what you can buddy and thanks for what you do. Just think about it and maybe tug on a ear if you can.

I hear ya Russ. I have been trying to find open minds and ears for Conway for years. I think what really gets administrators attention is when the public says something. On a side note, we are currently in negotiations to purchase the property adjacent to the hwy 89 bridge. Hopefully it all works out.

About two years ago, we found where someone had been dumping on our farm in Bearden. We cleaned it all up in one truckload and my dad went through some garbage bags and found their mail in there. We went to the Ouachita County Sheriff and they said for us to call the Game Warden and try to get the litterbugs for trespassing. No one wanted to help us. We found their address and brought their stuff back to em and left it out by the curb at their house.

Always lots of litter on the roads around here. Sad. We'll never stop the litterers, but every county jail has people who could be put to work "paying back their community for some injustice that they committed", but that might infringe on their rights or be considered cruel and unusual punishment. I say say that there are people who could clean up Arkansas highways at no rate of pay. They're already getting paid with free room and board with taxpayer money. Just my opinion. GTT

I know the sheriff's dept here does take prisoners to clean up public roads and sites, even the places mentioned here on occasions, but with demand and time they don't get around to the lake enough to make much of a difference
