I don't see how that wouldn't work for you to see what you think about spider rigged fishing. I hope you will let us know how it does for you. Now go catch a bunch

They will work, but they will probably eat up your rod handles. If you start catching some crappie, you will like It! It's addictive!

Broharrell may have a point. The hole where the rod handle ends go into looks a bit "tight/small" .... you may want to cut those holes "down" a little farther (below the current holes), making them an elongated oval, rather than a circle. This would allow the rod handle tips to slip out of the "hole" easier, and at the same time as you lift the rod up ... rather than having to lift "forward" on the rods to get the handles to come out of the hole.

You really don't need the rod handles to be so confined in such a tight fit. Most of the commercially made ones have either a half circle loop or a much larger diameter circular hole for holding the rod handles .... and that's so when you lift the rod (to set the hook), the handle will come out easily with the lifting of the rod motion.

Otherwise, I see nothing wrong with them ... and I have seen pictures of similar DIY rod holders, just like yours.
