Well I got a new kayak for Christmas and had to go giver a try! I usually do the spider rigging thing but I believe I'm gonna get back into the single poling thump action... my maiden voyage was to an oxbow lake and caught a few on a 1/32 chartreuse roadrunner with orange and char bobby garland slab slayer under a cork... I love fishing like this but I've been trying to find a roadrunner type head ( 1/32 or lighter) with a bigger hook... anybody have any idea where to find something like that? Any ways happy new year!!!

Looks like fun, but I would be scared of turning over in that cold water. I'm a big guy though and me riding in a kayak would look kinda like a squirrel riding a longneck beer cap......not too stable. Hope you enjoy your new rig and don't "tump" over. GTT
Lol if u get a good one they are about impossible to dump over... I'm 260 and with waders and cold weather gear I'm sure I looked pretty comical
I hunt ever winter in areas accessiable to very small boats . kayaks or canoes unless we get high water. Never turned my canoe over even hauling Deer and Hogs . But a passenger scares the heck out of me . Never tried fishing from a Kayak Hard to hold in place verticle jigging in the wind ?
Yea it won't work in the wind if you are in deep water... But I fish shallow water lakes and I bought a stick it pin which is a 9 ft fiberglass rod that I can stick through my anchor trolley or my scupper holes that go through my kayak and it is really stealthy compared to an anchor bc it makes zero noise and it holds rock solid.
Nice Kayak and Fish. Congratulations!
