Elk do not catch it as often as Whitetail Deer according to one article I read . Does not really matter once the Genie has been let out of the bottle . We will have to manage and hope it will run it's course quickly . I feel Buzzards spread the prion . How else can you explain how it pops up far from last positive case ? Cases in Yell , Logan ,and Pope counties are far from core area . But the disease has shown up in other countries too . My guess sick animals transported in most cases .

    We do know this:
This disease has no cure and is contiguous...The AGFC has some tough decisions to make that will not be popular to deer hunters. I really do think they should put a stop to artificial feeding for a few years to help stop the spread. I will bet my best shinny nickle that if they stop artificial feeding, the cases of CWD will drop drastically. But hey tha'ts my 2cents
I lived most of my life in Illinois and feeding has never been allowed up there and they have CWD in a big way, in a few counties. I hunted several of the those counties extensively and am sure I consumed many a deer with CWD...

It will spread no doubt, if hunters aren't allowed to control the population then nature will do the job for us. Mississippi has a population of 1.8 million to 2.5 million deer (depending on the source). Take the restrictions off doe harvesting or prolong the overall season period. Never hear a peep about blue tongue, but CWD is all the rage now, keep us all in panic. From what I understand most game and fish officials are hand tied by politics, go figure. Too many animals rights groups out there that would love to see hunting and fishing ended in general. Now mind you, these are the same people that say "why harm animals when you can buy meat and fish at the grocery store, where an animal never suffered".. Lol.

Hunters and fisherman are the true conservationist in this world, the others are to feeble minded to realize it.. New Cases of CWD found in Arkansas counties .

Man im not current on my CWD knowledge but I do know one. thing......My farm is notorious for having a high deer population and big bucks as well. I saw a deer on opening day of muzzleloading (3-point) and THAT IS THE ONLY DEER I HAVE SEEN SO FAR!!!!!!! Seriously I have not seen a deer since! I live in arkansas county and there aint much word around here about CWD. But I definitely believe it is here and its bad!
