It's great technology. My catfish pro staffer George Young Jr. uses them. They are awesome.

I've been looking at them on their website but didn't really understand how it's put together

I bet one of those would be great for shallow water lakes.

Looks great, but I wonder just how good it would be in shallow water, or dirty muddy water. You know if you want to sell something you show it best sides, not it's faults. Also if you bought a unit like that you have to buy another Garmin unit for a display screen if you do not already have one. What I have is a Lowrance HD unit, I am going to guess that if this is really all that great that Lowrance will be coming out with something before long.
I have 3 Lowrance HDS Gen3 12's on my boat. They are great. The Garmin Panoptic is the bomb tho. It freshens the entire screen at once. No history. You can literally see the fish moving from spot to spot. Shallow water, muddy water, it doesn't matter. It's sonar. The full screen refresh is what makes it unreal.

Crazy! I hope it doesn't get to the point that advancing sonar technology leads to the decline of sport fish species. If it does, fisheries management will need to be tweeked in the future. It kind of seems like this trend may have already begun.
