I used to buy mine direct from Anderson's Minnow Farm in Lonoke Ar. If I went and got them they were fresh, well graded, and on 100% oxygen. They used to be less than $30 bucks for the 6 lb minimum. That was just a little over $4 a pound!

Anywhere from 9-13 dollars a lb. I have a place that sells them for about 9-10 bucks for a lb of number sixes. They always seem to give me about a 1/2 lb more also for free. Those kind of places keep me coming back.

Having never fished with minnows I don't even know how many would be in a pound. When I buy from Anderson it's to stock my pond at my house. The bass and catfish try to eat me out of house and home. I add minnows to keep my bream from being hit too hard.

I'm very confident in my ability to catch crappie casting a cork and jig, a slider grub or curly tail, or single pole jigging' (one of my personal favorite ways to fish.) But I'll always have a bucket of minnows on board for when I want to just kick back and troll and enjoy the company of a good friend or observe natures beauty.
Ask some of the National Champions if they ever leave the bank with out fresh, lively minnows on board.
