    Default Searcy AR Move

    Hey y'all,
My Daughter, Son-in Law and grandkids just moved to Searcy. My wife and I just spent a week there helping them to move. Now they are a short 12 hour drive away. Looking forward to spending more time down there. I've heard there might be some good Crappie fishing around there somewhere

My folks are from a small town a few miles from Searcy. Mom still lives there.

As as far as fishing, there is good trout fishing on the Little Red river, and the big lake in the area is Greers Ferry. The trout fishing in the Little Red is due to the cold water discharge from Greers Ferry.

Searcy is not far from great fishing of all kinds. Hope they enjoy it here.

Both my parents are from Bald Knob and I spent many summers with the grandparents fishing those Searcy-area, White County lakes after my parents moved to Little Rock in the early 80s. I probably could navigate Hurricane Lake WMA blindfolded at 10 years old.

When we got tired of that we'd head up to the family farms in Concord and catch coolers full of bluegill, often on just plain hooks.

We always stopped just outside Pangburn on 124 and tried to catch trout with corn, but not with much success. Always did better around my uncle's property near Ramsey access.

The Searcy area indeed has some great waters, just depends upon what you're anglin' for.

My folks are from Judsonia, moved away before I was born then moved back after dad retired in '92. I have some family in the area too, everyone lives out in the country with either a Judsonia or Bald Knob address. We mostly fished farm ponds when I was a kid, but would sometimes fish the Little Red river where a good sized creek joined the river, and we occasionally fished Party Creek. We used to catch a lot of fish in the Little Red, one of my cousins was the master on trout. I'd usually fish the creek and catch warm water fish. We caught some walleye in the river too.

Ive duck hunted hurricane and Cache river, but don't remember ever fishing at either one.

When you get ready to go down, PM Creekslick. He guides in that area and can give you info on what's going on where.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Spoke with my daughter today and looks like our 4th grandchild will be born on my birthday (June 21). We want to be there as we were when the other 3 were born but may not be able to make it. Depends on what the doctor has to say on Thursday.
