I saw this and wondered if any of you were knife makers and planning to get a table. I went last year and basically discovered i would need to sell a few duck calls to get one knife but they are impressive if youre a person who can appreciate craftsmanship of that level.

oh and maumelle is a dead sea again

I dabble at making knives. I have many friends that are maker that will have tables. This is a great show with some of the world's best makers.

I think the cutting competition is a great chance to see what these knives are capable of. Also there will be a knife sharpening demonstration by Bill Carlile @ 10:00 at the Historic Arkansas Museum. Bill is a professional knife sharpener that gets to work on high end custom kitchen knives for chefs. Some of the knives are family heirlooms passed down from one sushi chef to another. Feel free to shoot me a PM I can meet you and introduce you to some outstanding makers and interesting folks.

Here are a couple I have made. The filet knife has been shown here before. The other is a Bird and Trout style hunter I forged from my own Damascus with wrought iron fittings from a wagon hitch from the late 1800's.

Thank you gents. My work is not on the level of many of the makers that will be at the show. The show really is one of the best and attracts collectors and makers from all over the world.

By the way their website has a list of knife makers who are attending and pictures of some of their work if you're interested

I went last year and was very impressed, not only with the quality of the vendor's work, but all the cool exotic materials for sale. (It was also a great way to spend some "man stuff" time while the wife went to the home and flower show or whatever it was.)

And Lake Maumelle has been very much living up to its Dead Sea status for me too.

I found out last night that Bill Carlile will not make it to Little Rock. A tree fell on his father and mangled his leg pretty bad. Bill will remain in Texas to be with his father.
