Lake Atkins is a good lake that holds some good crappie. I used to live there and was out there all the time but I was just in HS. was a great lake for LMB, Bream and crappie. Full of trees and stumps. There is a bait shop right next to the boat ramp called Lucky landing. Been there since I was little and always very helpful. Their walls are covered in bragging photos from the lake. I would check out their facebook page and give them a call for some up to date reports and helpful tips (479) 641-7615. https://www.facebook.com/Lucky-Landing-118293554854529/ Looks like they are getting some pigs out of it right now that are flirting with the 3 pound mark. Good Luck!!!!

I used to catch LOTS of 8" size red-ear bream out of there, about 30 years ago. I'm sure they're still in there. My grandparents had an old houseboat sitting on a lot at Lucky Landing.

    Default Atkins lake

Timmy Tom, welcome to the Arkansas forum. Not a lot of help is offered on the public forums. What I can tell you is the fishing is best in the fall and into January in the deep water. I didn't fish it this year at all. It can get very crowded at these times. I personally don't know anything of the spring time fishing. The brush piles in the cove of lucky landing have some nice fish also in the fall. The night time fishing there is good in that cove at times in the fall.

Overcup is close by and has some good winter fishing also but I don't go that far many times to fish.

Dardenelle piney River is also very good in the fall and spring. This year wasn't that great for me up there. But like everything the fishing places cycle.
The spring bite is good and you can catch a bunch of fish if you find the brush along the creek channels.

Nimrod is also a good winter time lake as well. Not that crowded on the main lake and the fish like the deep brush piles along the river channel. The spring time is really so miss than hit as its a flood control lake and usually is flooded out.

Hope this helps as I know you like to single pole fish. I do some but my arms can't take a lot of it anymore. Tight lines bud. Enjoy the videos you posted. Anything else I can help with send me a pm as I know you are like me share the passion of fishing with others when we can.

Thanks for the replies. Yes I prefer dipping or casting over spider rigging. But that might change this year. May just fish lakes that I know a little about and the crappie master lakes I plan on fishing this year. I heard they are catching some big crappie down there at Atkins and wandering about the lake lay out. Do have lee creek res. That had produced some good sized crappie a few years back. It's closer. Tried the Arkansas river a little last year. Caught a few and a bunch of cats. I know where I need to throw some jugs now! Them cats were pretty thick. Nimrod is another lake I would love to try. May make that trip this summer.
