Default Private campgrounds with seasonal sites for a crappie fishing base camp

Pam and I have been here in Arkansas for almost five months and have finally had time to get the boat out a couple times. We stuck close to home and didn't have much to show for it, but made more wonderful memories being together out exploring in the boat. We have decided that we want to start looking for a location within 2-3 hours of Batesville that we could establish a crappie fishing base camp. We would be looking for a campground that we could leave a trailer at all year round. We did this up north and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! We caught a bunch of fish at times, but more importantly, we met some wonderful people and made some great friends. I see that Harris Brake Lake Resort is kind of central to a few lakes you boys talk about, but I don't know if they have permanent sites. Any other information regarding that place or any others would be greatly appreciated. We aren't party animals, so a quieter place is preferred.

    Thanks,

    Jeff and Pam

Jeff - I would just call Harris Brake Lake Resort and talk to them about it. I know they have sites for campers but Im not sure about their rates. You may also want to look into Overcup Landing on Lake Overcup. Overcup is also centrally located and a good fishing a lake. Jr Bennett runs Overcup Landing and it a great guy.

Just a thought, not sure if this would be an option for you or not.... If you set up your camper at Toad Suck park in Conway, you'd be centrally located to some really good waters. You'd still have a short commute to get there, but you'd have options: 30 minutes or less from Lake Conway, Overcup, Harris Brake, Nimrod, and Brewer. :45 minutes or so away from Atkins, Dardenelle, and others that I'm sure I'm forgetting.

I appreciate the feedback. I called Harris and they said they've never had anyone request a permanent site. It looks like Toad Suck doesn't allow permanent sites. I've reached out to Mickey and will call Overcup. If anyone else has any suggestions, we would greatly appreciate it. When we moved down here, we sold our trailer because I have no way to tow it. That's okay, I bought that for my first wife to try and save the marriage, but it didn't work. My second and final wife had so much fun in that thing. I had a devil of a time keeping the mice out though, so I don't miss it. Pam is excited at the thought of getting a new "Place at the lake"!
