Very nice. Where do the ground up scraps go? Back into lake? I have never seen one in person.

They go into a septic tank and lines which gave them problems with the old one. I asked about sending it back to the lake but answer I got was it was not allowed ? It sure would make a great fishing spot but water quaility would shut down swimming in the area.

As I understand it, this is similar to one of the main reasons why most COE Campgrounds don't have completely full camper hookups......meaning no sewer. It's just too expensive to build septic tanks, and that close to a lake gives them pause. I guess the State Parks don't care, or either have figured out how to do it, or have more money, or something, because a lot of them do have septic.

I know the one at Sunlight Bay makes a bunch of funny noises in the ground during and after using it............not sure what that is.

But man, they sure are nice. If the United States is going to take my tax money to build lakes and launching ramps and then charge me a toll to use it (sorta like the toll on PUBLIC I-35 in Wichita!!!), then it'd sure be nice if they'd build some amenities like this at every ramp! Rant over!

Hi all of you crappie snatchers and cat getters. I work for the Corps at Nimrod and played a part in designing, and installing the new fish station. This was a team effort getting this unit and installing it. I am posting to answer a few of your questions; it will dispose of catfish, any fish that come out of Nimrod as long as it fits into the chute. The renderings are going into a septic tank, with the liquids going to a drain fill. We have a very massive drain fill on this system with the ability to add more if needed. We know and have funding to pump the 1250 gallon tank from time to time (depends on how good of a fisher person you all are) to get rid of the solids.

Thanks Nate for what ya'll have done. Hopefully we will get to come over at some point and make use of the new facility. I was impressed with the convenience of the old one and look forward to seeing the new one.
