I'm really thinking about going today, but does the storm and hail last night mess em up pretty bad? Being a newb, I don't wanna be out there if it's not gonna give me a lesson, does that make sense? I want to learn, but not the wrong way on fish that are messed up.

The best lesson you can learn fishing is how to catch them when it's TOUGH. If you learn that, you'll be way ahead of the game. Learning to figure out the conditions is what separates the men from the boys when it comes to tourney fishing, guiding, and being a good fisherman instead of an average fisherman.

Exactly what BRM said. You will have WAY more bad days than good, especially at first. The best way to figure out how a front affected the bite is to go. If its slow, try to figure out what they want, and you will know what to do, or not to do, next time a similar situation comes up.

I usually start off fishing deep close to the bottom behind a cold front.

Go fishing. The last 4 sundays have been post front for my fishing. Not the best conditions but good to get out. After a cold front moves through I try to fish structure in deep water. For me thats 10' and under. You may need to down size your jig and also hold it still without jiggin. maybe up to a minute. Just think like a fish and go catch a fish.

Create and keep a LOG!!!! Water temps, depth of catches, water clarity, frontal conditions, how many hours fished, best hours, ETC.
